In this lesson we learn the basics of a technique called clench nailing. It’s probably the fastest method of mechanically joining lapstrake planking together but it does take some practice and attention to detail to get it right. They are usually associated with small craft but here in the Pacific Northwest you will find them used to fasten most traditional wooden fishing boats.
