Tools from Trash – Hacksaw Blades
Making tools from junk around the workshop isn’t about thrift exactly. It’s about immediately satisfying an urgent need. But sometimes you stumble onto a solution that doesn’t really exist anywhere else. My simple bevel gauge is a good example of that. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t buy such a thing if I tried. Yes there are flat protractor devices but those don’t always lend themselves to the job at hand nor do they conveniently slip into a convenient pencil pocket on your shop apron.

As I made this video I pondered other good uses for hacksaw blades. I’m thinking a very lean marking knife could work. Maybe a lap marking guage for clinker building. At the very least I bet you could make some great micro scrapers.
