Dylan Thomas Art Piece
WOOL DOG COMB
This was a a commission/collaboration with Coast Salish artist Dylan Thomas. Dylan designed the piece which is based on a traditional wool carding comb. The coast Salish used to keep a breed of dog from which they would harvest wool. That species is now extinct. I was reponsible for the fabrication of the frame structure. It is basically an etched glass panel set into a shadowbox made with walnut and red cedar. The finish is linseed oil and wax.
